Borders being mined, 29 military warehouses to be built: Poland’s Defence Ministry sounds alarm
Poland is establishing military warehouses in every district along its eastern border.
TodayPress TV reports that the country’s Deputy Minister of National Defence, Cezary Tomczyk, made the statement.
“In every district — in the areas bordering Russia, Lithuania, Belarus and Ukraine — a special warehouse is being established where engineering troops are stockpiling equipment and weapons,” he said.
According to the deputy minister, 15 such warehouses have already been established, and their number is expected to reach 29 in the coming months. In addition, Polish forces are preparing to establish minefields along the eastern border.
On August 21, Polish Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz said that the country was ready to close all border crossings with Russia. He noted that the same measures could be taken along the border with Belarus. The minister said that Poland has fortifications and reinforced defensive structures for this purpose.
Deputy Defence Minister Cezary Tomczyk, meanwhile, said that Poland would need 7–14 days to close the border crossings.
Earlier, Polish officials said that the fortifications along the eastern border had been “turned into a sieve.”
