The US aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln has completed its mission in the Middle East.
TodayPress TV reports, citing CBS News, that the USS Abraham Lincoln is leaving the Middle East after nine months and returning to its base in San Diego, California.
However, the carrier has reportedly not yet left the area of responsibility of the US Central Command (CENTCOM).
According to journalists, the Abraham Lincoln will be replaced in the region by the USS George Washington aircraft carrier, which was deployed from Japan.
The carrier strike group, with 5,000 crew members aboard, left its permanent base in San Diego at the end of November 2025.
According to CBS News, the armed conflict with Iran, which began on February 28 last year, extended the aircraft carrier’s mission and increased the workload of its sailors. The Abraham Lincoln served as a key platform for conducting thousands of aviation sorties.
