Poland to raise defence spending to 5% of GDP by 2027
Poland is preparing to sharply increase its defence spending.
TodayPress TV reports that Prime Minister Donald Tusk made the statement.
According to him, the country will raise its defence budget to 5% of GDP by 2027.
He said that one of Poland’s main priorities is national security and that substantial financial resources are required in this area.
The prime minister noted that allocating 5% of GDP to defence would be approximately twice the average level among other NATO countries.
Poland’s defence spending for 2026 is currently planned at 4.7% of GDP. Earlier, Polish Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz said that this figure would reach a record level in Poland’s history. Current sources put Poland’s 2026 defence spending at around 4.8% of GDP.
