Slovakia joins NATO’s “Eastern Sentry” operation
Slovakia has decided to join NATO’s “Eastern Sentry” operation aimed at protecting the airspace of the Alliance’s eastern flank, TodayPress TV reports.
Polish Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz said that Slovak troops would be deployed in Poland and Romania.
The Slovak troops will monitor the airspace and support NATO’s integrated air and missile defence system.
The “Eastern Sentry” operation was announced by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte on September 12, 2025. The decision was made following consultations under Article 4 of the NATO Treaty, held at Warsaw’s request after a drone incident in Polish airspace.
