The US administration plans to revoke up to 200,000 tourist and business visas held by foreign nationals who have applied for or are preparing to apply for asylum in the country, TodayPress TV reports, citing the Associated Press (AP).

According to AP, which cited State Department documents, US officials are working with the Department of Homeland Security to identify and revoke the visas of these individuals.

The measure concerns foreigners who entered the United States for short-term visits and subsequently applied for asylum.

If implemented, the plan could result in the mass revocation of visas in the United States. However, revocation of a visa would not automatically mean that the individuals concerned would be deported.
