Leaders flock to Kyiv on Independence Day: Key partners arrive in capital by train

Heads of state and government, as well as representatives of the European Union, have visited Ukraine on its Independence Day, TodayPress TV reports.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha wrote about this on his X page.

The Ukrainian foreign minister welcomed Moldovan and Estonian Presidents Maia Sandu and Alar Karis, Luxembourg Prime Minister Luc Frieden, and European Council President António Costa at Kyiv railway station. In addition, UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham arrived in Kyiv on his first foreign trip.

“Independence for Ukraine is not an abstract concept. We have defended it despite all the difficulties. At times like these, nations understand how important it is to have allies by their side. Today, we know exactly who our true friends are,” Sybiha wrote.

It should be noted that Ukraine’s Independence Day is the country’s main national holiday and is celebrated annually on August 24. The date marks the adoption of the Act of Declaration of Independence of Ukraine in 1991.
